Two Important Protests: Do join in large numbers

Protest One: Protest on the Second Anniversary of the Murder of Dr. Narendra Dabholkar, Against the Failure of the State to Arrest those Responsible for murdering Dr. Dabholkar and Comrade Pansare

Under the leadership of Maharashtra Andhrashraddha Nirmulan Samiti, progressive organisations and people from all parts of Maharashtra will be taking part in this protest march. Lokayat and Socialist Party (India) will also be participating. Today, as a part of a campaign to mobilise people, especially the youth, to join this protest, Lokayat activists had organised campaigns outside at least 15 colleges of Pune, and in the evening at several crossings, along with banners and pamphlets. We call upon all of you in Pune to join us tomorrow for this protest march.

Date: Thursday, August 20, 2015
Time: 7 am to 9 am
Venue: Assembly at Omkareshwar Bridge, and from there the Rally will go to Mahendale Garage where it will convert to a day-long program of songs and drama and other activities.

After informal discussions with Comrade Kerkar and Bhai Vaidya, on behalf of FTII VIDYARTHI ANDOLAN PUNE NAGARIK SAMARTHAN SAMITI, we have decided to organise a protest outside FTII Gate on Froday, August 21 at 5.30 pm. Do join us in large numbers, and do pass on this message to all your friends and other groups.

Some of us, including Lal Nishan Party (Leninist), Socialist Party (India) and Shramik Ekta Mahasangh and CPM, had formed this joint front some days ago. There was little time to contact other progressive groups of Pune. So even if we could not invite you to this urgently called meeting, we call upon all of you from various progressive organisations of Pune to join us for this protest meeting to be held at the Gate of FTII.

Dear Readers Thank you for reading my blog for the past eleven years. (This is a link to the new one) During this time it has had nearly 1.7 million hits; and I have posted over 9500 posts covering a variety of themes. From July 11 to 19, 2022, my blog was withdrawn by the Blogger administration on account of what its machinery suspected to be 'Impersonation'. It took over a week and the efforts of several well-wishers to get it back online I thank them all for their kindness and goodwill  My blog has always been - and remains - non-commercial. I have used it for academic purposes; and to foster a culture of debate and informed commentary in civil society. Because it contains a large amount of material gathered and collated for over a decade, I cannot afford to lose its contents. I hope it will remain undisturbed now and function as an archive.
