Sacked Raja Bhaiya gets support of Sangh 'Parivar'

The BJP on Friday came out in support of former Uttar Pradesh minister Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiya, who was sacked following allegations of his involvement in the murder of DSP Zia-ul-Haq

The move, sources said, is the BJP’s tactic to make a dent into the Samajwadi Party’s (SP) “thakur” vote bank by using the prevailing resentment in the community over the unceremonious removal of the controversial independent legislator. Workers of saffron outfits like the Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad and Vishwa Hindu Parishad have reportedly held demonstrations in several parts of the state to protest against the “false implication” of Raja Bhaiya in the matter.

BJP Lok Sabha member from Gorakhpur Yogi Adityanath openly declared his support for the sacked minister. “The CBI probe is not expected to be impartial....we demand a judicial inquiry into the Pratapgarh violence,” Adityanath said on Friday. He said he would register his protest if Raja Bhaiya was arrested by the CBI. During a discussion in the Assembly earlier, BJP leader Hukum Singh had also questioned the inclusion of Bhaiya’s name in the FIR lodged in connection with the murder of the DSP.

Raja Bhaiya a scapegoat of Azam Khan's conspiracy: VHP, BJP MP

Even as Raghuraj Pratap alias Raja Bhaiya finds himself in the midst of a raging controversy over his alleged role in the killing of UP DSP Zia-ul-Haq, he has found an unlikely voice of support in BJP MP Yogi Adityanath and the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP). According to media reports, Adityanath said the state government had made Raja Bhaiya a scapegoat to appease Imam Syed Ahmad Bukhari of Delhi's Jama Masjid, his rival Azam Khan and Muslims in general. Demanding judicial enquiry, Yogi said that the CBI works on the directive of the Congress and SP government controls the UP police. He also said that Raja Bhaiya should not be arrested until the inquiry is completed, reports said.

Meanwhile, VHP leaders alleged that the slain DSP's wife had named Raja Bhaiya on Azam Khan's suggestion. They added that they support the Kunda MLA because he is a Hindu and has been falsely implicated in the case.

Raja Bhaiya falsely implicated on Azam Khan's direction, say VJP, BJP MP Yogi
BJP MP Yogi Adityanath and the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) have come out in support of former minister Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiyya, who had to resign from the Akhilesh Yadav government after he was named as an accused in the murder of Deputy Superintendent of Police Ziaul Haque. While Adityanath said the state government had made Raja Bhaiyya a scapegoat, the VHP said it would launch an agitation if Raja Bhaiya was arrested. VHP leaders said that they support the Kunda MLA because he is a Hindu and has been falsely implicated in the case.
Talking to The Indian Express over phone from Devipatan, Yogi said that UP government had made Raja Bhaiyya a scapegoat in the case to appease Imam Syed Ahmad Bukhari of Delhi's Jama Masjid, his rival Azam Khan and Muslims in general. Yogi said that a fair probe was required in the case. "CBI works on the directive of the Congress whereas UP police are under the control of SP government. A fair inquiry is not expected from these two agencies," said Yogi, adding, "A judicial inquiry is required in this particular case."
He also said that Raja Bahaiya should not be arrested until the inquiry is completed. Yogi said that SP government was looking at the Kunda incident as murder of a Muslim and not as murder of a police officer. "The government has given financial assistance of Rs 50 lakh and assurance of government jobs to family members of the DSP because he is a Muslim, but no help has been given to family of Ram Babu Gupta who was killed in Ambedkar Nagar," Yogi said. VHP's Kashi Prant orgnisation secretary Manoj Srivastava said that Raja Bhaiya had been falsely implicated to appease Muslims on the directive of Cabinet Minister Azam Khan. "The wife of the DSP had named Raja Bahaiyya in the FIR on the suggestion of Azam. VHP will lodge an FIR of conspiracy against Azam Khan,'' said Srivastava. "I demand the CBI to also check the call details of Azam and Parveen Azad, wife of the DSP," Srivastava said.
