Jairus Banaji wins the 2011 Isaac Deutscher Prize for 'Theory as History'

Comrade Jairus Banaji has been announced the winner of the 2011 Deutscher Prize for his
path-breaking work, Theory as History. And here, on the same occasion is the 2011 Deutscher Memorial Lecture by David Harvey. For over four decades now, Jairus has worked towards a respect for ideas, democratic dialogue and for the recognition of the practical significance of Marx's critique of capitalist modernity. He is respected the world over for his erudition, command of several languages, and a consistent engagement with theoretical questions. All his friends are proud of him.

Congratulations, Jairus! for a richly deserved honour.
