Khudai Khidmatgar Leader Faisal Khan Conferred with 4th Badshah Khan Memorial Award 2020

Dear Friends, On the pious occasion of Gandhi Jayanti (02nd of October 2020) ITM University Gwalior conferred 4th Badshah Khan Memorial Award 2020 to Mr. Faisal Khan (Convenor, Khudai Khidmatgar) for reviving and giving new light to the social movement ‘Khudai Khidmatgar’ in a virtual meeting. The Badshah Khan Memorial Award includes Rs 1 lakh, recognition letter, Angvastra and Shreefal. Due to COVID-19, this was personally given to Mr. Faisal Khan by Dr. Omveer Singh, Registrar, ITM University, Gwalior,  a day before the main event at the Central Office of the Khudai Khidmatgar in New Delhi.

Khudai Khidmatgar movement was started by Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan 'Badshah Khan' in 1929. “ITM family felt proud in honouring Mr. Faisal Khan who is taking the staunch Gandhian figure to the young generation with his work” said Shrimati Ruchi Singh Chauhan (Chancellor, ITM University). She also added that it is our duty to remember Humanists like Badshah Khan otherwise people will forget him that's why ITM University started an Award in his name.

Mukulika Banerjee - Remembering 'Bacha Khan': The beleaguered legacy of 'Frontier Gandhi' Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan

In his address to the dignitaries and students of ITM university Mr. Faisal Khan laid emphasis on the constructive work of the youths who are engaged with him in his organisation. He quotes a a couplet in Urdu for these youths

Yeh woh deewangi hai jis par danish naaz karti hai,

Yeh duniya warna deewano ki deewani nahi

According to Mr. Khan, it is the rule of nature that the world will remember those who lost themselves for others. The reason for this is that love is eternal and immortal. That's why we remember Gandhi ji.

Tere dukh aur dard ka ho aisa asar,

Agar tu bhookha rhe toh mujhse bhi khaaya na jaiye

After oxygen, the most important desire of human beings is fraternity, compassion, love and respect. He quotes Tulsi Das while commenting on Ram Rajya that it will not have hate and discrimination rather it will be full of love and equality.  He points out that in today’s time the least importance is given to morals and moral education (Insaniyat ka sabak educational institution mein bahut zaruri). Humans are not made by corporations but God. Therefore, if you inject a dose of love and compassion in a human heart it will definitely cure the ills like hate and inequality it contains.

Lastly, Mr. Khan thanked the whole ITM family for bestowing such an honour which was previously given to Gandhian like Mr. N. Subbarao and Mr. Rajagopal P. V. They both have contributed a lot to the society through their Gandhian methods of constructive work. Therefore, this award carries an immense responsibility.
